What are ICFE Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialists and what do they do?

ICFE Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialists, comprised of financial services industry
professionals, credit and debt counselors, financial planners, CPAs, law enforcement, notary publics,
consumer advocates, paralegals and some lawyers, earn their ICFE Certification after study and application of the program Independent Study Guide and pass a written examination. The self-study course is based on FACTA and also covers, in great detail, issues related to credit and identity theft risk management and helping victims.

ICFE Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialists are also educators.  They are the new front line
of defense for consumers and small business owners in helping people learn how to access and manage their individual risk of becoming a victim.   The actual review and assessment involves looking at the manner and method of receiving sensitive information, financial statements and other data.  Next they observe and review what is done about safe and secure storage of sensitive information and, as important, the methods used to disposing of these documents.
